Sekoya Dawn - My Bio
Welcome to my sweet world. A place of love inspired by the blessings that are my life.
Growing up in BC has made the forest my home. I live, breath and paint what I love...the spirit and essence of the west coast.
In life and my artwork, nature has been my greatest teacher. Trees in particular, with their ancient wisdom , have touched my soul. I am humbled and honored to convey their majesty. For me, the soothing effects of a ripple or the dance of clouds in the sky is medicine for my soul.
The intricate sacred geometric patterns in everything are a reminder of how we are all one. I believe in the power of thought and intention so I instill love in everything I do. Through my art I can spread the serenity that comes with total immersion in pure nature. An offering for those that can't experience it firsthand. I hope my creations inspire others to see the divine all around us. Respect and reverance for this beautiful planet are so needed in these times.
I prefer to work with acrylics most of the time. Acrylics allow me to use an airbrush for things like clouds, mist and fog. The contrast between the airbrushed sky and hand-painted landscape helps create the depth I am seeking. The quick drying properties allow for carrying paintings through the forest to paint in remote areas. Oil paints are my other favorite. I use oils for all water images, where a seamless fluid look is needed.
Each peice evolves over hundreds of hours and are a labour of love. They become a world I lose myself in.
Music also plays a major part in my inspiriation and fuels my every brush stroke. My body and soul are dancing while I paint.
I currently live on a small off-grid island with my husband and two children. I'm honored to be a part of a loving community of high quality individuals. I live among ancient forests, windswept junipers and mystical beaches. Life is simple and sweet and I give thanks for every moment.
